Teaching is one of the most courageous and noble careers today. With the profession, there are many instances where a teacher ends up stressed or burnt out at work. Despite the demanding and exhausting challenges you can encounter in the education profession, inspiration can uplift your spirit and propel you in moving forward again.

Here are nine quick inspirational thoughts to uplift a stressed or burnt out teacher:

1. Your caring impact and words of encouragement may be the only light of hope your students are receiving.

You may not know it, but the caring impact and words of encouragement that you share with a student can be the reason he or she has confidence and looks forward to coming to school. It is a fact that each of us has a different life story, and many of your students also have steep challenges to overcome on each day. The positive impact and words you share help them to cope and do well in your classroom and presence, each day.

2. “Education breeds confidence. Confidence breeds hope. Hope breeds peace.” ~ Confucius

Education is the key to new levels of success. A teacher with caring passion does not give up on helping their students to acquire the quality education needed to build confidence, hope, and peace. You are the beacon students look and come to for guidance, inspiration, and a way through to a better understanding of life.

3. “The future of the world is in my classroom today.” ~ Ivan Welton Fitzwater

Being a teacher is a fantastic and rewarding profession. You have the ideal opportunity each day to inspire and influence the future of the world. Young people believe in themselves and work hard in your classroom so they can better position themselves for achievement and success on a daily basis.

4. How you care and love your students’ rocks!

Teaching with inspiring passion can help to change the life of your students. The care, love, and quality instruction you give to your students is an excellent source of their happiness and belief system. On the other hand, you too receive joy and satisfaction from the love and inspiration your students give back to you. Enjoy being a rock star—you’ve earned it, and more!

5. Your patience and compassion with students are golden.

Teaching is not an easy job. It requires a high level of patience, compassion, and hard work to make it from the beginning to the end of each day. You were given these gifts at birth, and your skills and courageous ability to share them are golden. Yes, at times today’s students can be very challenging, yet, you choose to welcome and teach them with patience and compassion each day. Thank you for being you!

6. “I like a teacher who gives you something to take home to think about besides homework.” ~ Lily Tomlin

A career in education is not just about theories and homework; it is an important job that provides students with a series of enriching lessons that they can apply and develop their whole life. Many teachers, like you, do far more than teaching and assign homework—you listen, counsel, coach, mentor, support, cheer, correct, and help to create and pour out a ‘whole child’ foundation for success for each of your students.

7. Teachers who love teaching―teach children to love learning.

Loving your career can lead you and your students to greater heights. The more you love what you are doing, the less time you will feel or focus on being stressed, burnt out or ready to give up. As you continue to teach children to love learning pause, reflect, reconnect to your ‘Why?’, and smile. Thank you again for a job well done!

8. A stressed teacher is often a blessed and caring teacher in need of a good boost of inspiration.

Because you are you, and you care about your students and their growth and success with all your heart—you have to create and utilize a ‘Personal Inspiration Replenishment Plan’ to re-energize and get yourself going again. You most likely reached the ‘Favorite Teacher’ status a long time ago and know your students look forward to and depend on you. Here’s where you pick yourself back up, recharge and uplift your spirit, and return to your classroom with renewed enthusiasm, confidence, passion, and your big caring smile.

9. Like a good breakfast, you give our children a great start in life! Thank you for what you do!

Your importance as a teacher is everlasting. The quality education that you provide to our children should always be looked at as their great start and stepping stone towards a brighter, productive, and prosperous future. I cannot ‘Thank You’ enough for what you do day in and day out. Thank you!

If you are feeling down and stressed right now, reread each of the above inspirational thoughts three times before moving on to the next thought. Also, after you’ve read each one, sit completely still with your eyes closed for 2 to 4 minutes in a quiet place without any distractions, and reflect on the benefits and value that you bring to students, education, your school, and the world each day as it pertains to that unique thought. Soon you will see, feel, and agree with me on how each of the nine inspirational thoughts can help to uplift the spirit and mood of a stressed or burnt-out teacher throughout the world.
