Kindness is the quality of being friendly; it requires interpersonal skills. Interpersonal skills are the qualities and behaviors a person uses to interact with others properly. Today, there is an extreme need for Kindness as there are many social abuses, verbal abuses, financial abuses, mental abuses, defamation, ignorance, and poverty among us. For some, it is a daily challenge to hear and receive a few words of care, warmth, gentleness, and affection.
This is when and where ‘courage’ must step up and in to make the world a better place. Courage is the ability and strength to do something that frightens you or to do something through bravery that must be done to improve humanity. It’s time for us all to make a courageous stand for consistent and resilient Kindness. I also believe Kindness can win and spread around the world, and brave teens can be the leaders of the Kindness Movement.
Have a look! Here are four ways teenagers can embrace and promote Kindness through courage:
Take a Stand Against Prejudice and Injustice
For sure, it takes courage to stand up and speak out against prejudice and injustice when it’s near you, and you do not support it. It takes great effort in pausing and removing these kinds of societal ills, the failings of humanity. Injustice and prejudice can severely harm our lives; we should be uplifting the person suffering the injustice and stand with them till everything becomes fine, fair, or equal. Your efforts and Kindness in this area of life will also encourage other teens and adults to take a stand and raise their voice to help people having less power, unfair treatment, and resources.
Listen to Others Carefully
Listen to other people carefully, especially to your parents. Never let others feel that you are ignoring or shunning them. Be optimistic! Kind people listen with care and a positive mindset. If needed, when listening carefully, modify yourself according to the hopes and needs of others. Listen with good intentions and explore solutions to help remove or fix problems. This act will improve your social health values and will be effective in helping you leave a good impression and image of you in the hearts of other people.
Spread Your Impressive Obsession
Make the spreading of Kindness your new impressive obsession. Convey your right thoughts and actions to everyone through continuous courageous acts of Kindness daily. If someone is facing a problem or challenge and you can help them through it, be there to help them find their way through and achieve success. A few ways you can be proactive in sharing your new impressive obsession – Kindness – is through volunteering. You can volunteer at a soup kitchen, domestic violence center, homeless shelter, cancer walk, children’s hospital, senior nursing home, at your school, or in your community in support of a cause or charity. It’s been said, “In life, the more you help other people to get and achieve what they want or need, you, in turn, will get and achieve the things you want and need in life.” From this day forward, make it your life’s mission to repeatedly accomplish this winner’s goal in life by making Kindness the impressive obsession you live out and spread daily.
DO NOT ACT OUT IN ANGER OR HATE
Anger and hate are the breeding grounds of many forms of abuse. Work intentionally daily to move and keep yourself away from it. If you should feel anger or hate towards anyone, go to a safe and quiet place away from others to provide yourself some alone and thinking time. While alone count slowly in your head from 1 to 50 or drink a glass or bottle of water and think and work for a solution. Never feel angry or hate over anything, anyone, or issue because you will compromise your character and emotional health values by this act. Instead, teach yourself how to forgive and move on. Once you’ve practiced and mastered the skills of forgiveness and kindness, teach others—and be kind to all (humans, animals, property, and nature).
These are the few high-quality virtues which every human being should follow. Mahatma Gandhi said it best, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” Kindness improves the quality of life for everyone, whether it’s yours or others. As a caring and kind teenager today – trust yourself – because nothing in the world is impossible. You can help humans and animals in need of love, support, resources, education, or a few uplifting words through embracing and promoting Kindness through courage!
